What to wear to a session?

Now that you have booked your session, I bet you wonder, What do we wear?

First off, don't overthink it. Here are a few pointers that I hope help make picking out an outfit for yourself and family a bit easier.

  • First, try to go with neutral colors. Avoid Bright colors they tend to bounce off and change the color of the skin.

  • It's also helpful to try and avoid Logos and patterns.

  • Next, focus on cordoning the family and preventing matching. I want to see all of your personalities.

  • Dress comfortably

  • Be yourself

Parents, this day is about you too! I know it is easy to get caught up in getting the whole family ready (including your partner).

Ladies, Mothers, Female Adults

Now, you are standing in your closet and wondering what I wear?

First go to your neutral section and pick out that one piece that makes you feel like a bad ass that you are. I say go for that comfortable olive flowing dress. (That is always my go to) Dresses are flattering and fun to photograph when we twirl and chase the little ones.

If wearing a dress is not who you are, wear what is comfortable for you! Please don't feel pressured to get all glammed up if that is not who you are. If all you wear is eyeliner and mascara perfect if you need to glam, go for it. All I am trying to say is be yourself. You won't regret it!

MEN, Fathers, Male Adults

Here is the fun part, partners. This one is for you! If you are anything like my husband, the answer is, Yes! Yes, you have to have your picture taken with the family. Yes, you can wear shorts. (I do recommend if it is cold or snowing out, you might want to wear jeans) Pair it with a nice button-up or polo, and you are all set. I want you all to be as comfortable as possible and be yourself.

Children

As I mentioned above, children, big or small, try to avoid neon and bright colors. I know that Pink shirt is her favorite shirt but bright colors will reflect on the child’s face. If you're anything like me when shopping for my kid's clothes, I go up a size so they can grow into the outfit. However, I would avoid doing that for the session. Something that fits well will be ideal for the shoot. (Side note, please don't feel the need to go shopping for a new outfit.)

Shoes

Lastly, I encouraged you and yours to play, jump, and run around. It's helpful for all to be in comfortable shoes something you don’t mind getting dusty. So you can leave the heels at home for this session.
